How To Prepare Garden For Your Cat?
If you have a cat and you love gardening, this article is exactly for you! Idea for this article came to me when I was looking for photos for my last post about 5 Best Summer Flowers For 2023. I saw a picture of my cat watching me from the window while I was working in the garden. In addition, I have two more cats who love to watch through the window bees, butterflies and birds in my garden. If you like my articles, follow my profile on Facebook. It will be a great motivation for me to write new interesting articles.
1.CatnipCatnip is the perfect plant for our cats. Interestingly, each cat reacts differently to the pheromones contained in this plant, going crazy, and some cats do not react to it at all. It is one hundred percent safe for our feline pets. This plant likes a sunny position, semi-permeable soil that does not cause root rot. Catnip should be pruned low after flowering. Certainly, having catnip in the garden, we will gain a plant that wonderfully decorates our beds, and our cat will be grateful to us.
2.Easter Oat
Oats (known as cat grass) will be perfect for a cat for this purpose - it will be a source of valuable vitamins and minerals, as well as fiber. Thanks to it, the cat will be able to regulate its digestive processes. Oats will also be useful for him to be able to deal with the lint in the digestive tract. It is worth to sow Easter oats from time to time in small pots and put them in the garden where our fluffy friend stays or at home on the windowsill. There is nothing simpler, just sow it into the ground, and after sprouting, our cat will enjoy fresh oats to chew on.
3.Valerian
4.Germander
Cats especially love the smell of the germander species - Teucrium marum. This plant is often called "cat thyme". Its flowers are pink or blue. It's not as strong as catnip or valerian, but it certainly attracts our cats. Germander prefers sunny positions, with dry and highly permeable soil, but there are no requirements for pH. However, it is suitable even for poor, stony or gravel ground. It should be remembered that not all species of germander are frost-resistant.
5.Lavender
Only a few cats react to the smell of lavender and do not fall into euphoria, preferring to gently nibble its leaves and be in its company, lounging among the fragrant clumps. Lavender is planted every 30-40cm(12-16in). The lavender growing position should be airy, as lavender requires good air circulation, and it should be well exposed to the sun. These plants should not be planted in an excessive hollow where it is very humid because lavender does not like moisture. It is ideal for the edges of borderes.
6.Common chamomile
Chamomile has relaxing properties for both humans and cats. It also has antispasmodic properties, which is why we drink chamomile infusion for some abdominal pain. Cats are unlikely to be very interested in chamomile, but we will certainly notice that they will nibble on it from time to time. Common chamomile grows well in sandy and clay soils. It likes freshly cultivated, fertile, permeable soils with an admixture of sand and low calcium content. The position should be well sunny, usually from the south.

In the place where our cat will be staying, it is worth putting a small log of wood on which it will sharpen its claws. Always if you have any doubts about the safety of a plant, contact a veterinarian! Thank you for reading the article. Have fun working in the garden. Bye!
